SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT – CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Later this year, HCAFP will begin accepting nominations for 2021 Physician of the Year and 2021 Physician Emeritus awards. The award criteria are below along with a list of past recipients.

CRITERIA FOR PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
The nominee should:
·
Provide the community with compassionate and caring medical service on a continuing basis.
·
Be directly and effectively involved in community activities that enhance the quality of life of his/her home area.
·
Provide a credible and invaluable role model, as a healer and human being, to the community and, as a professional in the science and art of medicine, to colleagues, other health professionals, and especially to young physicians in training and medical students.
·
Be in good standing in the medical community.
·
be an active, practicing member of AAFP, TAFP, and HCAFP
·
Have been in practice for at least 10 years (and not planning to retire for at least 2 years after this competition).
·
Spend at least 50% of the time in active practice and/or family practice education.

CRITERIA FOR PHYSICIAN EMERITUS AWARD
The nominee should:
·
Have contributed long and meritorious service in the arena of family practice, be retired, and over age 70.
·
be a member of AAFP, TAFP, and HCAFP
·
Have a commitment to and involvement in organized medicine.
·
Be in good standing in the medical and general communities.

Physician Emeritus
The award of Physician Emeritus was created to honor members who have contributed long and meritorious service in the arena of Family Practice. Consideration will be given to those physicians who are retired, over age 70 and who are nominated by a TAFP chapter or by any active TAFP member in good standing. The Commission on Membership and Member Services urges all TAFP members to consider their colleagues and submit nominations.
Physician of the Year
In existence since 1982, the Physician of the Year Award is one of TAFP's highest honors. The Commission on Membership and Member Services urges all TAFP members to consider their colleagues and submit nominations.
